After another angry rant, Mel Gibson spoke out for the first time sharing his feelings to Jay Leno on Friday night’s (April 27) “The Tonight Show".
The “Braveheart” actor let out a profanity-filled rant against screenwriter Joe Eszterhas that was recorded in secret and recently released to the media stream.
“When you get me here and tape me, you let me know up front,” Gibson told the talk show host.
The two had a disagreement on a new project for the 56-year-old actor based on Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee and, as a result of the explicit rant, Eszterhas fired back with a 9-page letter addressed to Gibson.
"If he put half as much time and effort and creativity and imagination into a screenplay, which he was supposed to write, as he did into that letter, we wouldn't be having this conversation,” he joked.
This isn’t the first time that Mel’s expressed his anger, recalling the audio recording in 2010 directed at his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, along with his 2006 DWI arrest during which he expressed his blame towards Jews for “all the wars in the world.”
"Maybe you don't know this about me, but I've got a little bit of a temper,” he added.
The “What Women Want” actor also made a plug for his new film, “Get the Gringo,” set to release on DirecTV and avoiding the theaters.
“It’s different because it’s on a small window,” he said. “I think it’s the way of the future.”
The film is set in Mexico and follows the story of Gibson’s character as he’s locked in prison and learns to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy. It will be available on May 1.
