Visiting the lower ninth ward that was struck by Hurricane Katrina, Ellen DeGeneres met up with Brad Pitt in New Orleans, Louisiana to talk about the progress of his Make It Right organization.
Possibly proving how much effort and time Pitt has spent in the ninth district, the 48-year-old actor often called out to residents by their name to tell them hello as he walked with Miss DeGeneres down the street lined with brand new homes.
Heading up the Make It Right organization - which builds safe, sustainable and affordable homes - Pitt brushed aside Ellen's compliment for getting involved by saying, “I’m getting far too much credit for this. This took a lot of very smart people coming in and attacking the situation. It took the families determined to come back and their resilience and they’re defining what this thing was going to be. I get far too much credit for bringing some really smart people together."
Seventy-four new homes have been built thus far as part of the project and Brad explained that these residences are constructed so durably that, should another massive storm hit the area, they would more than likely still be standing.
"You could throw a two by four into it at 100 miles an hour and it won't penetrate these homes" Brad told Ellen.
